Plenty of action for boxing fans



Rodney Berman of Golden Gloves promotions announced details of three upcoming tournaments to be held at Emperors Palace near Kempton Park over the next few months.

The first tournament will be held on June 23 when Thulani Mbenge challenges for the vacant IBO welterweight title against Diego Chaves from Argentina.

On August 10, heading the bill will be Rowan Campbell who meets Renson Hobyani for the South African super-middleweight title.

On September 1, former IBO super-middleweight and light-heavyweight champion Tommy Oosthuizen returns to action to face the winner of Thabiso Mchunu and Ricard Bolotniks.

Mchunu and Bolotniks clash on June 23 at Emperors Palace.

23 June

Jay Jay Sonjica v Tumelo Motsane (4 rounds - junior-featherweight).

Wade Groth v Andile Mntungwa (6 rounds - middleweight).

Rowan Campbell v Malkhaz Sujashvili (8 rounds - international super-middleweight).

Thabiso Mchunu v Ricards Bolotniks (10 rounds - international cruiserweight).

Thulani Mbenge v Diego Chaves (12 rounds - vacant IBO welterweight title).

10 August

Jay Sonjica v TBA (4 rounds - junior-featherweight).

Jarred Silverman v Jason Bedeman (6 rounds - junior-welterweight).

Keaton Gomes v TBA (4 rounds - cruiserweight).

Wade Groth v Wynand Mulder (12 rounds - interim SA middleweight title).

Rowan Campbell v Renson Hobyani (12 rounds - SA super-middleweight title).

1 September

Jay Sonjica v TBA (4 rounds - junior-featherweight).

Keaton Gomes v TBA (4 rounds - cruiserweight).

Wade Groth v TBC (if Groth wins the interim belt).

Lusanda Komanisi v Michael Mokoena (12 rounds - ABU lightweight title).

Ryno Liebenberg v Alfonso Tissen (12 rounds - ABU super-middleweight title).

Tommy Oosthuizen against the winner of Thabiso Mchunu and Ricards Bolotniks (12 rounds - ABU cruiserweight title).
