Ruann Visser returns to action

South African heavyweight champion Ruann Visser returns to action when he meets Johannesburg-based Zimbabwean Elvis Moyo at Time Square in Pretoria on Sunday February 10.

The 28-year-old Visser, from Meyerton in Gauteng, had a good 2018, winning the South African heavyweight title with a seventh-round technical knockout win over Osborne Machimana (23-10-2) and a sixth-round stoppage win over Luke Sutherland, who had a record of 2-1 (1) after the Visser fight, according to Boxrec.

Visser, who is listed at No 98 by the IBO, made his pro debut on July 24, 2014 and has a record of 14-1-1nc (13), with his only loss a six-round points decision against George Tshimanga (3-0) in July 2015.

The no-decision fight came against Gary Cobia in March 2015 in Texas City when the fight was stopped due to an accidental injury.

Moyo, 35, a former mixed-martial arts fighter, made his pro debut in July 2014 and has a record of 8-5-2; 4, according to Boxrec.

He had two fights against Osborne Machimana, a six-round draw in March 2013 and a ten-round majority points decision win for the vacant WBA Pan African and WBF Africa heavyweight titles on November 22, 2011, and is coming off two wins in 2018.

Visser and Moyo are heading a seven-bout card.
