Wits claim Premiership Q1 Innovation

On-form Absa Premiership side Bidvest Wits have been rewarded for their consistency by claiming top prize in the Absa Premiership quarterly Q-Innovation.

Wits were declared winners of quarter one (Q1) after finishing at the top with 16 points from eight matches.

During this period, they won five matches, lost two and drew one, scoring a total of 12 goals.

The last time Wits won a quarter was back in the 2016-17 season when they also claimed quarter one.

In the 2018-19 first quarter, a total of five clubs were tied on 14 points behind Bidvest Wits’ 16 points. Mamelodi Sundowns, who finished second (also 14 points) won three fixtures and drew five during the same period.

They were followed by Orlando Pirates (also 14 points) in number three with four victories, two loses and two draws.

Polokwane City, SuperSport United and Bloemfontein Celtic were also in the mix (all 14 points) but they couldn’t clear the last hurdle.

The League congratulated Bidvest Wits for this achievement.

The club walks away with R1.5 million prize money.
