Lakay out and Bhasera a doubt for SuperSport

Onismor Bhasera will undergo a second medical examination after cutting his head against Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday, but Fagrie Lakay, who was concussed in the same game, won't be available when SuperSport United host Maritzburg United in the Absa Premiership at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday (live on SuperSport, kick off 6pm).

Veteran fullback Bhasera played through much of the second half with a heavily strapped forehead after a clash of heads saw him cut, but he finished the game against Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday.

SuperSport lost 1-0 in the Absa Premiership clash but have stayed on in Nelspruit to prepare for Saturday’s encounter.

Lakay was involved in a similar clash of heads with Kgotso Moleko and although he initially stayed on and continued playing for a few minutes after the incident, he was taken off at halftime and sent to hospital.

There he stayed overnight after being diagnosed with concussion and has been told by doctors he cannot play for the next 10 days.

That not only includes Saturday’s clash against Maritzburg, but SuperSport’s last game of the year away against Highlands Park at Tembisa on Sunday, December 23.
