Nagelsmann to coach Leipzig end of next season

Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmann will leave the club at the end of the 2018-19 season and take charge of RB Leipzig, the Bundesliga clubs said on Thursday.

Following the departure of Ralph Hasenhuettl, Leipzig are yet to announce a new manager for next season but have confirmed Nagelsmann will take over on a four-year deal starting from the 2019-20 campaign.

The highly-rated 30-year-old Nagelsmann triggered a release clause in his long-term contract with Hoffenheim which allows him to leave the club at the end of next season.

"It was important for me to work out all the conditions early," Nagelsmann told Hoffenheim's website.

"I owe it to everyone who has worked for TSG as well as the fans and players after our historic qualification for the Champions League, not to burden them with speculation and uncertainty about my future.

"Now everyone knows and we can move on professionally to concentrate on the tasks that matter."

Nagelsmann took the reins of Hoffenheim in 2016 and led the club to successive top-four finishes in the Bundesliga.
