Chiefs wait to decide about Billiat

Kaizer Chiefs will only know in the hours before kick off on Sunday whether Khama Billiat will be ready to play in the Telkom Knockout tie against Black Leopards.

Chiefs’ talisman returned from international duty with Zimbabwe this week with a back injury and has been assessed by the club medical staff as Chiefs try to get him fit for Sunday’s first round match at FNB Stadium (live on SS3, 3.30pm).

Coach Giovanni Solinas has said he does not think the injury is too serious but stressed that Billiat must pass a fitness test before they will make a decision whether to pay him.

Chiefs must already do without Lebogang Manyama, who fractured his elbow in a car accident earlier this week and faces a six week layoff but could have Leonardo Castro back.

The Colombian striker has been out with an ankle injury that he suffered against Cape Town City in the Absa Premiership last month.

Chiefs also have their Malagasy international Andriasmirado Andrianarimanana out with a calf strain and Joseph Molongoane is a long term injury victim after breaking his leg in August.
