2018 Let’s Play PhysEd Challenge kicks-off in CT

Weighing in at 109kg and accompanied by female wrestler Mandy Rose, WWE’s Apollo Crews turned the field at Cedar Primary School, in Bonteheuwel on Thursday into a stage when he surprised the pupils during their Let’s Play Physical Education Challenge.

When the WWE stars, together with Stormers players Bongi Mbonambi and Juarno Augustus, walked on to the sports field, pupils screaming in delight charged towards them with papers and shirts to be autographed.

Their presence drew the attention of curious eyes who peered through the school fence to see what the commotion was.

The stars arrived as the Let’s Play Physical Education Challenge project launched in conjunction with Unicef, Steers, the Sports Trust, the Department of Basic Education and Active Education. The primary objective of the Challenge is to reinforce the instruction of curriculum-oriented Physical Education, as well as teaching basic movement, co-ordination and to promote physical activity in all primary schools. Approximately 435 Primary schools will be engaged with the Challenge this year.
