Robshaw dropped as Shields starts 2nd test

England coach has called up Brad Shields to make his first start in Saturday’s second test against the Springboks in Bloemfontein.

Shields, who captains New Zealand franchise the Hurricanes in Super Rugby, won his first cap last week as a replacement for young lock Nick Isiekwa at Emirates Airlines Park in the opening test, which South Africa won 42-39.

However, with the experienced Joe Launchbury returning to the starting line-up at lock, making it two changes to the team that started in Johannesburg, Shields will play his regular position of flank, with former skipper Chris Robshaw being dropped out of the squad entirely.

Mark Wilson comes onto the bench in place of Shields. Also brought in on the bench is flyhalf Danny Cipriani, who played Super Rugby for the Rebels. He replaces Piers Francis.

Kick-off for Saturday's test is scheduled for 17:05.
