Bulls lose RG, Warner

The Vodacom Bulls have been hit by two injury blows following their defeat at the hands of the Chiefs on Friday in Hamilton.

The Bulls lost the game 41-28 but now have also lost the services of scrumhalf Andre Warner and lock RG Snyman, who will both be returning home to South Africa in the meantime to undergo recovery.

Snyman’s injury is the worst, with the big lock taking a smack on the cheek during a head clash on Saturday which forced him to leave the field. Snyman has a facial fracture, and looks to be out of action for four to six weeks, depending on the outcome of the scan he will have when he returns home.

Snyman will be replaced by SA under-20 lock/flank Hendre Stassen, a rising star in the Bulls ranks and the team are likely to use Jason Jenkins, who came on as a replacement in their final tour game against the Crusaders this coming Friday.

Warner left the field with concussion and as scrumhalf is a key area, will be replaced by Ivan van Zyl for the last game of the tour. Embrose Papier played well in his absence and is likely to start against the Crusaders for the Bulls this coming weekend as well.

There are a number of players nursing injuries but further clarity will be available when the team does its normal Monday medical assessment.
