Lions keep eye on injured quintet

The Emirates Lions will be hoping their off week will be an elixir for their players, with a number – including kingpin Elton Jantjies – nursing injuries after their bruising Vodacom Super Rugby loss to the Cell C Sharks in Durban last weekend.

Jantjies was hit late a number of times, and it is no surprise he is sporting a rib injury, while lock Marvin Orie has concussion, and winger Sylvian Mahuza a Grade 1 abductor strain (hip).

Others to be injured are prop Dylan Smith, who is struggling with a grade one calf strain, while Len Massyn has a grade two ankle injury.

All of the players, with the exception of Massyn, are expected to be fit for the Lions' last regular-season match next weekend against the Vodacom Bulls.
